"Can U Hear Me Now?" Youth Conference
Removing Barriers So We Can Hear Him!
Hello friends, my name is Denise Johnson. As the founder of Can U Hear Me Now Youth Conference, also known as CYC, I wanted to take a moment to give you a personal “about us” or a “longer than usual mission statement" about CYC.
My vision about 10 years ago was to reach young people (and not so young) with the loving and living gospel of Jesus Christ. I began to realize that many of our young people and others were struggling to have a relationship with God. Many would share that they “could not hear God.” Many of them attended church and participated in church activities regularly, some not so much, and others had completely turned their backs on God, His Church, and needed fellowship.
I realized that many truly are struggling to hear the voice of God, many are struggling to understand the purpose for their lives, and many have been spiritually or emotionally wounded. So, along with my husband and friends, we decided to develop a conference to take place every Memorial Day weekend. Our overall theme became “Removing Barriers So That We Can Hear God.” This conference would take place away from the hustle and bustle of the city in the beautiful Angeles Oaks area at Camp Cedar Falls. We would be blessed by three to four days of fellowship, healthy food, empowering seminars, hiking, and meeting new friends. The year 2013 we began and we have not missed a beat since. The following year, 2014, we implemented a yearly baptism where eight to 12 souls give their lives to Christ demonstrated through baptism.
I want everyone to know, that in the last few conferences, and this year 2020, more so than ever, we have been focusing on felt needs; the hurting, the broken, those that are unchurched, and those that need a safe haven. Although the conference is endorsed and organized by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, we are open to any and all. All are welcome. Our messages are Bible-based. Our team is loving and welcoming to all no matter the denomination or background.
We pray that as you read this, you will be impressed to tune in this year 2020, virtually and that you will invite someone else too. I hope and pray that your desire will then be to return in 2021 to our usual campground get-a-way at Camp Cedars Falls. In the meantime, visit our website canuhearmenowconference.org to see updates and more importantly, our streaming videos that will begin May 21. Our theme for this year is "Restoration 2020: Healing from Brokenness" Tune in. We promise you will be blessed.
In His Grace,
Denise Johnson
